On a bid to capitalise on the fast-growing business-to-business logistics industry, Hero Electric has launched an electric scooter with by far the highest claimed range in the Indian electric two-wheeler segment. The newly-launched Hero Electric Nyx HX offers a claimed range of 82km to a whopping 210km per charge, depending on the variant. The price starts from Rs 64,640 for the base variant and Rs 74,990 for the Nyx HX Pro version. These are ex-showroom, and are inclusive of the FAME II subsidy.
Powering the electric scooter is a 600-watt motor linked to three 51.2V/ 30Ah lithium ion battery packs. They have been installed in such a way that they don’t interfere with the dedicated cargo area. The charging time takes about 4-5 hours, which is pretty reasonable for a battery pack with such a generous range. The limited top speed of just 42kmph would have also helped in achieving such a high range. To enhance the scooter’s practicality, Hero Electric also offers four levels of smartphone connectivity solutions ranging from simple bluetooth interface to the top-of-the-line remote surveillance, diagnostic solutions and the likes.
