Honda U-GO GT 2023, Sporty EM1

After introducing 3 new electric motorbikes for Honda's global models in 2023, Wuyang Honda has also released a special electric scooter product for their domestic market called the Honda U-GO GT 2023 . In a way, this new Molis is a twin of the Honada E1, the local Chinese version but comes with a sportier design, more complete features including the use of rear disc brakes and also more sophisticated because it can connect a smartphone. How's the price?

At the IIMS 2023 event yesterday, AHM brought an electric motorbike called the Honda EM1 e:. This motorbike has not yet been sold, it has only been introduced to test the market in Indonesia. However, the impression of this motorbike feels inferior if you look at the specs and features. moreover, there are rumors that this motorbike will be sold at a price of around Rp. 25 million, wow… of course potential customers have more expectations about the first Honda electric motorbike they will buy.

Now let's try to compare the two electric scooter products. It should be noted that the basic Honda EM1 e Honda is the Honda U-GO which was released in China in 2018, and only in 2022 yesterday this motorbike was brought to Europe as a global product with a different name, namely EM1 e:.

Both use the same basic design, including the engine in the rear wheel hub and the frame with a flat deck like a conventional scooter. The difference is in the charging system and battery model, while the standard version of the Honda U-GO uses a fixed model with direct charging, while the Honda EM1 uses a power package model that can be exchanged and recharged at a special integrated charging point.

But there is something different about the 2023 version of the Honda U-GO GT which was released in China, where this electric scooter uses 2 Lithium ion batteries with a larger capacity, namely 5000W 96(V)/30(AH). So that the Honda U-GO GT is claimed to be able to reach a distance of 150 km in one charge (with an average speed of 25 km per hour) and a top speed of 86 km per hour.

Certainly better than EM1 which only has 1200W of power and a top speed of 53 km per hour. Not only that, U-GO GT is also packed with more complete features. For example, if EM1 still uses the usual mechanical ignition key, the U-GO GT already uses a smart key system, aka keyless.

The speedometer panel is also bigger and seems more futuristic with a more complete appearance, and what's interesting is that the U-GO GT is more sophisticated and modern because it can be connected to a smartphone via the Wi-Box smart application developed by Wuyang-Honda. Wow, Honda AHM is getting left behind at this rate, hehe...

In terms of design, the U-GO GT is sportier with a sportier graphic stripe, there is even a difference from the use of the steering handlebars, if EM1 uses a shell cover while the U-GO GT shows an adventurous aura using a naked handlebar model in the style of motor sport, it's similar with Honda Beat Street if in Indonesia.

And what's interesting is the use of disc rear brakes, so it looks more modern and luxurious. Unlike the EM1, which still uses drum brakes that are integrated with the rear wheel drive hub. While other excellent features such as double rear shocks, front disc brakes, cast wheel wheels, all-LED lights, spacious trunk under the seat are still maintained.

For the price of the 2023 version of the Honda U-GO GT, Wuyang Honda sells it at ¥19,900 or if converted into rupiah, it's around Rp. 44 million. And sold in 2 colors including red and yellow.

Wow, it's more expensive but more complete in terms of features and performance… But, wait a minute, what's that really more expensive? Hope you want...
