Ola Electric maintains dominance in Indian electric two-wheeler market with 21,845 sales in April 2023

In April 2023, electric two-wheeler sales in India crossed the 60,000 mark, indicating the growing demand for sustainable transportation alternatives. However, Okinawa and Hero Electric witnessed a decline in sales as they managed to sell just over 3,000 electric two-wheelers. The competition in the electric two-wheeler market is getting tougher as new companies enter the market and existing companies launch new products to capture the growing demand. Nevertheless, Ola Electric has continued to dominate the market by consistently selling over 20,000 electric scooters a month and expanding its offline retail network across India. The company sold a remarkable 21,845 electric two-wheelers in April 2023 and has launched 500 stores across the country with plans to reach a total of 1,000 stores by August 15, 2023.

TVS has secured the second spot on the sales list by delivering 8,727 iQube electric scooters in April. Furthermore, TVS is set to commence deliveries of its flagship e-scooter, the iQube ST, later this year. The sales of TVS’ electric scooters have shown significant growth in 2023, with the company selling 39,677 e-two-wheelers in the first quarter. With 8,316 sales, Ampere EV has secured the third position in the sales list. The company recently unveiled its flagship scooter, Primus, and partnered with Royal Challengers Bangalore to become their official EV partner for the upcoming season of IPL. As part of this collaboration, Ampere has launched a limited edition RCB themed Primus electric scooter. Ather has also maintained its consistent performance in the electric scooter market, securing the fourth position on the sales list by delivering 7,737 electric scooters in April 2023. The company has announced a significant price reduction of its 450X model, making it available for ₹1,45,000 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).

On the other hand, the sales of Hero Electric and Okinawa have consistently declined, with the companies selling 3,329 and 3,216 electric scooters, respectively, in April 2023. The April 2023 electric two-wheeler sales list shows Ola Electric Technologies Pvt Ltd at the top with 21,845 sales, followed by TVS Motor Company Ltd, Ampere Vehicles Private Limited, Ather Energy Pvt Ltd, and Bajaj Auto Ltd. Other companies on the list include Hero Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd, Okinawa Autotech Pvt Ltd, and Goreen E-Mobility Pvt Ltd, among others, bringing the total sales to 66,410.
