Gogoro Electric Scooter Homologated in India with Leaked Specs and 94 Km Range

Gogoro, Taiwan's largest provider of EV battery swapping infrastructure, is set to launch its Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus electric scooters in India. Both models have received homologation from the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT) and are equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack. The Gogoro 2 has a range of 85 km, while the Gogoro 2 Plus boasts a range of 94 km. However, the website lists the range of both scooters at 170 km, suggesting that homologation may have been based on a single battery setup.

In addition to the electric scooters, Gogoro is developing a large network of battery swapping stations in India, although this will take time due to the complexities involved. Gogoro has partnered with Belrise Industries in Maharashtra to invest a 50:50 venture fund worth US$2.5 billion over the next eight years. The partnership will focus on EV manufacturing, battery swapping infrastructure development, and other areas like smart mobility sharing, smart agriculture, and distributed energy storage.

The Gogoro 2 has a simple, minimalistic design with advanced tech features, including bio-authentication via fingerprint, face-ID, and Siri voice command. The scooter has a flat floorboard and a sporty digital instrument screen with connectivity features. Other highlights include an auto weather model, one-click reverse, carbon belt system for silent operations, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Both models have a max speed of 87 kmph and a gross vehicle weight of 273 kg.
