Hero Vida V1 Pro: A Well-Equipped Electric Scooter with a High Price Tag

Hero MotoCorp's Vida V1 Pro: A Well-Equipped Electric Scooter with a High Price Tag

Hero MotoCorp, the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has finally launched its first electric vehicle under its new premium EV sub-brand, Vida. The Vida V1 is available in two variants, the V1 Plus and the V1 Pro, with the main difference between the two being battery capacity. In this review, we'll be focusing on the Vida V1 Pro, which is the most expensive electric scooter on the market in India.

Design

The Vida V1 sports a unique and aggressive design, with a low-mounted LED headlamp and a wide bodywork. The side profile is defined by a large swooping body panel and an unusual split seat design. The scooter comes with premium-looking switchgear and a 7-inch touchscreen TFT display for the rider. At the rear, there is a lot of black plastic around the boot area, which gives it an unfinished look. The combined boot space is 26 litres, which is ample space for a small backpack or helmet.

Performance

The Vida V1 Pro is powered by a 3.5kW electric motor that can produce 5.4 horsepower and 28 Nm of torque. It comes with a 3.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is good for a claimed range of 110km on a single charge. The battery can be charged up to 80% in just two hours using a fast charger. The scooter can achieve a top speed of 60km/h, which is good for city riding.

Ride and Handling

The Vida V1 Pro offers confident and enjoyable handling, thanks to its well-tuned suspension setup. The scooter comes with 12-inch alloy wheels and tubeless tyres, which offer a comfortable ride. The front disc and rear drum brakes provide adequate stopping power. However, the main stand tends to scrape on speed breakers, which can be a concern for riders.

Features

The Vida V1 Pro comes loaded with features, such as keyless ignition, remote lock/unlock, find-my-scooter, anti-theft alarm, and a side-stand sensor. The scooter also comes with a USB charging port, a mobile app, and a geo-fencing feature that allows riders to set a perimeter for the scooter's movement.

Price and Availability

At Rs. 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom), the Vida V1 Pro is the most expensive electric scooter on the market in India. The company has justified the high price tag by stating that the scooter comes with premium features and is built with high-quality materials. The Vida V1 Pro is currently available for purchase in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore, with plans to expand to other cities in the future.

Conclusion

The Vida V1 Pro is a well-equipped electric scooter with a unique design and a host of features. It offers a comfortable ride and confident handling, making it an ideal choice for city riding. However, the high price tag may deter potential buyers, especially since there are other electric scooters available in the market at a lower price point. Overall, the Vida V1 Pro is a late bloomer in the electric scooter segment and has a lot to offer, but it remains to be seen whether it can justify its high price tag in the long run
